Give the Gift of a Real Estate Career This Holiday Season [Online in 2022]
Here’s an idea for your holiday stocking–how about a real estate license? Real estate school is truly the gift that keeps on giving, whether it’s for yourself, a family member, or friend. For a small investment, a real estate license opens up the possibilities of a secondary income stream, or even a whole new career.
There aren’t many careers that have taken off during the Covid pandemic, but real estate is one of the bright spots in an otherwise discouraging economic climate. New residents continue flocking to Las Vegas and surrounding areas, leading to a real estate market that’s white-hot–and keeping real estate agents hopping. According to the Las Vegas Association of Realtors, housing sales for July were up 3% from June of this year, and the median sales price climbed to a record $445,000–up 1.5% from the record set the month before.
I’m interested in becoming a real estate agent. How do I get started?
To be a licensed real estate agent in Nevada, you must take a 120 hour Pre Licensing class, and pass the state exam. Century 21 Americana Real Estate School is the area’s premier Pre Licensing School in Nevada. We have the best instructors, particularly Elizabeth Martinez, the highest-rated instructor in the state of Nevada.
Americana offers new classes every month, so you can choose the one that works best for you. Once you’ve registered, you have a full year to complete the 120 hours of instruction to obtain your certificate of completion. Here’s a brief breakdown of the class schedule.
- 60 hours of live instruction. We are now offering the option of in class or virtual Live instruction.
- 60 hours of assisted home study (okay, it’s homework).
The full 120 hours are completed over four weeks and when you complete the course you’ll get a certificate of completion.
After this, you will need to take the Nevada Real Estate Division’s exam at a Pearson Vue location near you. The exam consists of a national and a state test and the cost for both is $100. You must score at least 75% on each exam to pass. You will also need to have your fingerprints taken at an approved fingerprint location and the cost usually ranges from $60 to $80. Once you’ve completed all of these steps, you will need to choose a broker and submit an application to the Nevada Real Estate Division along with a $140 application fee.
Americana is offering a special through the end of October of $195 for the course. The full cost of the course is typically $395 so make sure to take advantage of the special pricing! Tuition includes the coursework and all textbooks. Additionally you have one full year from the time you enroll to complete or audit the course to ensure you are prepared prior to taking your exam.
Will I be a Realtor after I get a license?
After your license, you will be a real estate licensee. You become a Realtor when you join your local Real Estate Association, which is an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Realtors have pledged to follow a code of ethics and guidelines to ensure integrity while conducting real estate business. Agents are certainly welcome to follow the Realtor code, but Realtors (members of the NAR) are required to do so.
Okay, I’m ready.
Century 21 Americana is the premier real estate school in Las Vegas. As we mentioned earlier, our all-star team of instructors, led by the incomparable Elizabeth Martinez, offers many course sessions a year, so you can surely fit one into your schedule. So–a real estate career that begins with an investment in your future–$195.
